Update with Travel Plans for 2022

In February, I posted a blog about my plans for my travels in 2022. I said that I was going to Capitol Reef to camp and hike; that plan did not materalize thanks to the cold snowy weather. I decided that I would postpone that trip to later in the year. As for peakbagging near Saint George, I managed to come down to Cedar City. However, the mountain I wanted to summit was still covered in snow. I opted to do other things around Cedar City, and to summit the mountain later in summer.

There are also new plans that materalized for 2022: three trips in May. The first one was during the weekend of April 30-May 3, where I flew to Washington D.C. area for a weekend of monument sighting. I had been wanting to visit Washington D.C. for a while, but did not get around to pinpointing on a date for it. Autumn seemed like a good idea, however, I found out that the Washington D.C. temple was having an open house between April and June. The temples of Latter Day Saints are difficult to get in if you are not a member of that church, and open houses are the only time when you can visit them. It seemed like a good reason to finally do my Washington D.C. trip.

The next trip will take place on the weekend of 14-16 May. It has to do mostly with my goal of running a half marathon in each of the 50 states and D.C. I signed up to do the Rock and Roll Half Marathon in Atlantic City. It will be strange visiting New Jersey officially as a out-of-state visitor. I also plan on visiting some of the sites around Pennsylvania and New York City that I never came around to visiting in the past.

I'll continue the goal of running in the third trip of the month, as I signed up to run this half marathon in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. This one is different, because it is not road running, but more of a trail running. Still, this will check off Arkansas from my bucket list. It also will be my first time to visit Arkansas. I will definitely have to come back to Arkansas later on to visit the capital and other places.

Not long after my Arkansas trip, I will be heading off on this so-called round-the-world trip on 5-14 June. Originally, I piloted a course around the world with stops in Argentina, Spain, Egypt, Dubai, and the Philippines. As the time has gotten closer, I have been more and more interested in visiting Egypt, and it has become more of a trip to Egypt than round the world trip. I'll have to write a post about planning for that trip.

After the trip in June, I will be focusing mostly on weekends since I need to save up my PTOs towards my trip in Israel and Jordan in September. It is one of the disadvantages of having a full time job. I need to work so that I can earn money to travel!

In the next days, I will be writing posts about the trips, and especially about planning for my round the world trip. I also want to work on vlogging about these things. Keep posted for them! Happy wandering!
